In what ways do the US Department of Education’s Race to the Top and Investing in Innovation programs emulate the work of nonprofit foundations?

I have chosen to focus on the Education area, because I have an interest in Education. In the future I would like to teach at a high school level, particularly in Geography focus.I hope to learn more about our Education system now, Where Obama wants it to go, and How I can help transform it to a better system.
